Already a 1,000 point scorer for the Mohicans, Murphy is the preseason favorite to be conference player of the year in Section Three’s Center State II league.

Last year as a junior, he scored an astonishing 26.7 PPG for Mohawk. and led the team to a 19-2 record.
According to coach Luke Judd, Murphy “has always been the best player on the court” ever since he joined Mohawk’s varsity team his sophomore season. Judd says that Murphy’s game has matured over the last three years and he notes that Murphy is more selective with his shot taking now, taking more disciplined field goal attempts. He also notes that Murphy keeps his teammates involved, along with scoring at a dynamic pace. Murphy averaged 9.1 rebounds, and 4.5 assists to go along with his point total last season. Murphy is getting looks at the Division Three level right now, but if given the right exposure, we believe he has the potential to play at a higher level.
At 6’5”, one of Murphy’s major strengths is his versatility. He could play the one, two, or three in college if asked and has the skill sets for all three. According to Judd, a local junior college coach told him that he believes Murphy could start at the point for them “right now”, even with another year left to improve his game. Judd also praises Murphy’s coachability, admitting that he has “always ridden Carson pretty hard” to ensure that he didn’t get too big of an ego.  He says that Murphy has taken it all in stride and is always the first one to point out when he’s made a mistake. With one more year at Mohawk to complete his dream high school career, Murphy and the rest of the Mohicans have their eyes set on a state championship.   Last year they came within two games of that goal.
Upstate Scouting Service thanks coach Judd for his time, and wishes Carson Murphy and Mohawk the best of luck next season.
