As the high school basketball season gets under way, some of our recent featured players are having great beginnings to their seasons. These players are showing that hard work in the off season truly pays off.

One of the best scorers this season in Section 2 has been Grant Massaroni from Mohonasen. He is averaging over 25 points per game, which is good for 2nd in the entire section. Through the beginning of the season, he is tied for 7th place in 3-point shots with 15 made.  He is also shooting a respectable 69% from the free throw line.

Also in Section 2, Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School’s Garrett Pitcher is averaging 22.5 points per game, good for 10th in the section. He is also 4th from the free throw line, shooting 85.7%. The Bulldogs have started strong and much can be attributed to the solid play from Pitcher.

Jay Sarkis from Greece-Athena has his team heading in the right direction. He has been named MVP of a tip-off tournament, where he led his team to the championship. Sarkis scored 16 points in the title game for his squad. Greece-Athena is off to a fast start this year.

A final player we are going to catch up with is C.J. Krowiak from Union-Endicott High School.  He is also off to a great start, as is his team. In a recent game, Krowiak scored 26 points to keep his team undefeated heading into the Christmas holiday. The Tigers are performing well under his leadership.

It is safe to say that U.S.S. is pleased to see all of our featured players performing well and helping their teams win. Going forward, we wish everyone we have covered the best of luck with their season.
