Alex Kline may not be a recognizable name to the casual basketball fan. However, to NCAA Division 1 schools such as Florida, Baylor, and even reigning champions Kentucky, Alex Kline is not only recognizable, he’s respected.

What makes Alex Kline unique, apart from his brilliant analyst skills, is that he is only a teenager. Currently, Kline is attending the University of Syracuse for broadcast journalism, and he hopes to pursue a career in a related field.

In a recent interview, Kline said he wanted to be involved in the field of scouting because he “loved the sport of basketball and had a passion for the game, but could not contribute in the usual way.  I decided to learn about the game and players, and continue from there to where I am now.”

Where he is now is at place of respect and trust from men’s basketball powerhouses across the nation. He has used his connections to “help out and make (his) contribution to society through giving players exposure and guidance.” He is able to help out so many players to the next step because he is “fair to players, coaches, and families. I’m honest with them…”

Other schools Kline has been in direct contact with include: USC, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Ohio State, UConn, Oregon State, Michigan, UNLV, Arizona, and more. These schools, including conferences from perennial contenders SEC, Big East, and Big Ten, put out NBA players every year.

When asked what he would like for the readers to know about him as a person, Kline responded that he “always (has) the best interest of the recruit in mind over everything else when it comes to my profession. I enjoy seeing a player receive a scholarship or gain an accolade, as opposed to me breaking a story about them.”

Although Kline could not contribute in the “usual way” to the world of basketball, he is definitely doing his part to help this generation of future stars pursue their dreams. It is clearly evident that Kline treats everyone with care and has a great level of professionalism at his young age. The Upstate Scouting Service and I would like to wish him luck with his future and hope that he continues to help other people realize their goals. We expect Kline to make a big impact on the Upstate scene now that he has officially arrived.
